The center has helped people start more than 650 new businesses, create or retain more than 3,700 jobs, secure $168 million in funding, and win more than $616 million in government contracts. Shaunak’s team hosts over 120 workshops and provides free one-on-one mentorship to over 1,000 business owners each year. He also sits on the board of the MiraCosta College Foundation. The second prize, awarded to the Technology Career Institute of MiraCosta, honored its cooperative education retraining and training pilot program, which received $3.5 million in funding for a job training program focused on disadvantaged adults and unemployed.
